Meet our Speakers

Vartan was born in Armenia but lived in Moscow for over 25 years. He moved back to Armenia in 2010. Before co-founding Repat Armenia Foundation in 2012, Vartan was the Deputy Minister of Diaspora. He also worked as Economic Advisor to the British Department for International Development. He’s also an international expert on State-Diaspora relations. His private sector experience includes real estate development and banking. Vartan strongly believes that Armenia should be the key element of our identity.

Nelly, a French native with a degree in communications, moved from Paris to Yerevan in March 2020 to join Birthright Armenia and Armenian Volunteer Corps (AVC) as their marketing director. Since March 2022, she has served as the Head of Communications for the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation and its four programs: Birthright Armenia, Armenian Volunteer Corps (AVC), Repat Armenia, and HIKEArmenia. She believes that the best way to understand what Armenia has to offer is to live there, even for a short time.

Sevan has served as the Country Director of Birthright Armenia since his relocation to Armenia from California in 2006. Formerly an aerospace engineer, Sevan brings over 35 years of experience in fostering connections between Armenian youth and their ancestral homeland. Sevan believes that emotional connections to Armenia are not sufficient and that the key to harnessing the diaspora potential is to create practical connections and engagement opportunities.

Arina first came to Armenia in 2002 to volunteer with Armenian Volunteer Corps (AVC), planning to stay for a year. That experience turned into a life-changing journey, and Armenia became home after time in the UK, Iran, US, Canada, and Spain. In 2021, she became AVC's Executive Director, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in education and non-profit management. Arina believes anyone can make a significant impact if they open their hearts and minds, just as AVC did for her.

Nazareth was born to Lebanese-Armenian parents and grew up in India, before moving to Armenia in 1998. He has been working in sustainable business since 2008, including the development of CSR and social entrepreneurship in Armenia. Nazareth joined the board of Impact Hub Yerevan in 2021 and helped establish VIA Fund, the first impact investment fund for social enterprises in Armenia. VIA Fund has supported 15 social enterprises to grow their businesses and impact in Armenia. Nazareth is married and has three children, and he believes Armenia is the best place to raise kids.

Hrayr was born into an Armenian family in Lebanon, he followed his heart and relocated to Armenia in 2018. Further to his current role as Co-Founder and CEO of Optimize Consulting, and Co-Founder of Optimize Academy, he is an Executive MBA instructor. His journey, marked by resilience and entrepreneurial drive, reflects the spirit of repatriation. Hrayr shares insights into his experiences, offering a compelling narrative of reconnecting with his roots and thriving in the Armenian business landscape.

Lusine moved to rural Armenia from the UK in 2023. She is the founding CEO of Health For Armenia, a non-profit that is dedicated to training and placing family medicine doctors in rural communities and developing leaders who will transform Armenia's healthcare system. Her previous career spans local and central government bodies in the UK, and non-profit and government bodies in Armenia. Lusine believes that change in Armenia is only visible at a local level, so investment in our local communities and regions is paramount to the country’s success.

In 2016, Gor returned to Armenia after completing his studies in Germany, with a vision to apply his knowledge and experience in the homeland. After exploring diverse fields, he found his true calling in education. For the past seven years, he has been working with Teach For Armenia, contributing to the movement for educational equity. Today, Gor serves as Interim CEO. He believes that Armenia’s future can be transformed through investment in education, and that this transformation is only possible when people in Armenia and the Diaspora come together to mobilize their talents and resources.

David first encountered TUMO in 2015 while exploring innovative approaches to education during his master's studies. What began as a short-term curiosity soon evolved into a commitment as he joined TUMO in Armenia full-time. Today, he serves as Managing Director of TUMO Deutschland, expanding the German TUMO network to shape experiences that empower young people in Germany. David believes that education has the power to transform lives, and he invites others to experience this firsthand and become part of TUMO’s Armenia campaign.

Marina was raised in Russia and repatriated to Armenia in 2006. She is the Founder and CEO of M.A.M Educational Movement, an important initiative she co-founded with her sister, Meline Ghazaryan, dedicated to connecting the Armenian diaspora to their heritage through innovative education. Marina firmly believes that knowledge of the Armenian language empowers every Armenian to embrace their heritage, remain connected to Armenia, and contribute to the country’s future and cultural continuity—wherever they live.

Samson moved back to Armenia from Sweden in 2010. He is the CEO of eqwefy, a regulated investment platform enabling investors to access top Armenian tech Startups on the same terms as leading VCs and professional investors. With academic background in Sweden and Harvard Business School, he has more than 20 years of investments, finance and Startup experience. He is the author of Armenia’s Economy: The Next 25 Years. His belief is that Armenia has all the prerequisites for success, and as demonstrated with the tech ecosystem, the Diaspora connection gives it a distinct competitive edge.

Elena came to Armenia in 2018. With a background in business and HR, she transitioned to artist management in 2017 at Primavera Consulting, representing artists like Mischa Maisky, Tan Dun, and Olga Peretyatko. In 2020, she co-founded Primavera Digital to help artists enhance their digital presence. She also co-founded Primavera Foundation Armenia in 2022. She published a Russian edition of James Westbrook’s The Century that Shaped the Guitar. Elena believes Armenian talent and cultural heritage have contributed profoundly to world culture and still hold immense power to inspire the world.

Born in Aleppo, Syria, Hagop repatriated to Armenia in 2019. In 2020, he founded Big Mind Academy, which now thrives with two branches: Big Mind Educational Center and Big Mind Kids Child Development Center, shaping the minds of both professionals and children. As a communication specialist and personal development coach with over a decade of experience, Hagop combines communication expertise with personal development, guiding individuals toward success. He also leads Mind Link Educultural NGO in Armavir, Armenia, and firmly believes that Armenia is a land of opportunities.

Gevorg is from Armenia. He co-founded Idram, the first e-payment system in Armenia, TCF in 2016, the world's leading marketing agency in the field of crowdfunding, and Prelaunch.com in 2022. Gevorg was also a founding president of “GlobalAM” foundation, developing the Armenian Startup Ecosystem. He also acted as a business angel and invested in Armenian startups. Since 2021, he has been engaged in social entrepreneurship and is the CEO of ReArmenia platform.

The Repat Armenia Foundation, established in 2012, is a non-profit and one of the core organizations of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation. Operating in Armenia, it offers resources, information, and networking to support repatriation as well as Diaspora's meaningful engagement with Armenia from anywhere.
